Isaiah 47

Like the Babylonians to whom God speaks in this chapter, how often do we continue to sin, thinking we are beyond or above consequence or that it simply won’t ever come and catch up to us?   The Babylonians felt this way but God makes it very clear that consequence for sin and disobedience will catch up to us.  In verse 3, “Your nakedness will be exposed and your shame uncovered.”  Verse 9, “Both of these will overtake you in a moment, on a single day.”

Father God, the Holy One, the Righteous One – may we, may I, remember that you are just and righteous and that we are never above or beyond the consequences that result from our sin and disobedience.  Amen.
