Isaiah 43:14-24

18 “Forget the former things;
do not dwell on the past.

19 See, I am doing a new thing!

Forgetting the past seems to be a theme with God (Philippians 3:13-14).  It seems as though He desires for us to forget our sin, the hardsships, the difficulties, the messes of the past, and to see what He is doing now and wants to do.  At the same time, there are numerous passages where we are told to remember one thing – God and His faithfulness and His mercy and goodness.  We remember God and who He is which allows us to forget the past and to strengthen our faith in Him as He leads us forward.

Father God, the Faithful One of all eternity – help me to not dwell on the past, to forget the past, and to look to what You want to do in me in the days and months and years to come.  Amen.
