The Illusion of Safety

I think it first really hit home with me a few years ago when I was reading Erwin McManus’ book, The Barbarian Way. Safety is an illusion.  Furthermore, we’ve never, ever been promised safety as Christians (security – yes, but safety – no), yet it is one of those things that many of us fall into the trap of trying to create for ourselves and our families and futures.  Anyway, I was reading a blog today that reiterated this idea of safety being a grand illusion.  We find our security in Christ knowing that God’s plan/will for our lives is perfect and whatever He wants or allows will happen.  But even in that security, we’re never promised that we’ll be kept safe.  Here’s the link to this other blog  – it’s worth the read.
